This paper introduces the experience of professor XU Runsan in treating chronic pelvic pain by innovative use of ancient prescriptions. It is believed that the main pathogenesis of chronic pelvic pain is blood stasis obstructing the Chong Vessel and Conception Vessel. He puts forward that the diagnosis and treatment of this disease should follow the theory of "treating different diseases in the same way"
as well as the basic principle of "warming channels
invigorating blood and dissolving stasis"; moreover
treatment with both attack and supplementation is emphasized
and prescriptions are modified based on syndrome differentiation. In clinical practice
he innovatively uses ancient prescriptions including Guizhi Fuling Pills(桂枝茯苓丸)
Si Ni Powder(四逆散)
Yiyi Fuzi Baijiang Powder(薏苡附子败酱散)
Huangqi Jianzhong Decoction(黄芪建中汤)
Li Zhong Decoction(理中汤)
Buyang Huanwu Decoction(补阳还五汤)
and Qi Li Powder(七厘散) to treat chronic pelvic pain
and is experienced in using blood-invigorating herbs
deficiency-supplementing herbs and insects medicine to nourish and activate the blood
