Radial pulse and zang-fu(脏腑) organs coordination theory lays a good foundation for pulse diagnosis in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM). The tactile perception model of pulse diagnosis was initially established under Weber-Fechner Law and by considering the characteristics of the tactile frequency and threshold. The frequency-domain and time-domain processing of clinical data on arterial blood pressure was managed through the established model
and the results were compared to explain the differences between palpation and sensor measurement conditions in pulse manifestation. It was found that pulse manifestation changed with finger pressure during pulse diagnosis
which was affected by the characteristics of tactile frequency and threshold
but there was no such change when the sensor was used to measure the pulse
thereby explaining the difference between palpitation-based TCM pulse diagnosis and sensor measurement-based modern pulse diagnosis in understanding pulse manifestations. The pulse manifestations established through the tactile perception model were found to be in line with the characteristics of cun-guan-chi(寸关尺) under lifting
pressing and searching methods described by the TCM theory.
